A:  Yes, our non slip treads have been rigorously designed to reduce and/or eliminate people from slips and falls.

A:  We recommend that the tread be aligned with the front of the nose of the stair and then moved back ¾ of an inch. This should provide enough wood for the screw.

Yes, while salt and moisture has some impact on aluminum, it will not affect the performance of the tread.

A: Absolutely.  Treads are shipped to Canada via ground using major small package carriers (unless other arrangements are made).  Please be mindful you are responsible for customs duties and taxes fees.

A: We recommend a #8, ¾” stainless steel pan head tapping screw with the square drive rather than a Philips or slotted head for best torque. However, a Phillips or slotted head will also work.

A: While we have not tested this at Hand-Products, some customers have used an RTV. In theory, that should work. The Liquid Nails Corporation state that their polyurethane glue will work perfectly well. At Home Depot it is called Liquid Nails for Marble and Granite. At all other stores it is called Liquid Nails Polyurethane epoxy.

A: The Handi-Tread stands .180” off the floor. OSHA does not have a standard for trip and falls but recommends against anything higher than .250”. Consequently, the Handi-Tread does not pose a trip and fall hazard.

A: We recommend using a Tapcon fastener or equivalent. Instructions are available in each Tapcon package or at our website.

A: Handi-Treads can be produced to any size or shape within an envelope of 4 feet (wide) by 10 feet (long). With a custom order there is often a set-up charge and program charge – please contact us at 877-328-7389 for details.

A: The color choices for the Handi-Treads Aluminum Treads for residential use include black, brown, gray, yellow and unfinished aluminum. Custom colors are also available. Colors are created through powder coating.

A: We recommend Plexus MA300. MA300 is a two-part methacrylate adhesive designed for structural bonding of thermoplastic, metal, and composite assemblies. Make sure you mask off the area you do not want the epoxy to make contact with. Here is what MA300 is good with:
